The Nurse1 Story

Matt Goldberg's mother

Growing up in a single parent household, my mother had to work three jobs to provide for me and for my mentally challenged brother.  Her leadership and example taught me much about love and compassion and the need for home health care and caregivers. I was thirteen when my father left us. He stripped all the bank accounts leaving our family high and dry. My sweet mother struggled every day. Trying to provide for our family, she struggled to pay the mortgage and provide food for us to eat. My brother was never capable of working due to his challenges. He was able to carry on conversations and feed himself but did not have the mental capability to earn a living. He was the perfect example of someone who slipped between the cracks. Able to function but unable to work.

My mom worked 6-days per week at a local business around the corner from 8am to 5pm.  She would then take the subway from Brooklyn to NYC, and work from 7pm until midnight. She also worked on the weekends to meet her obligations. When she was finally completely worn out and her health was failing, my wife Bonnie and I, took it upon ourselves to take care of her. We had a caregiver in our home and then placed her in a nursing home.  We provided her with what we though would be the very best care out of our own savings. We paid for these services for almost six years!

It was then I realized the need for quality, loving care, at a fair price. This is when I began my search for a business related to the home health care field where my family could make a difference and assist many other loving families. That is the Nurse1 pledge to you, and our personal guarantee, that you and your family will experience the very best, in home health care.
